We conducted a prospective clinical study to investigate the diagnostic value of fibronectin levels in patients with pulmonary embolism. 20 consecutive patients who were admitted to an Emergency Care Unit with pulmonary embolism were enrolled in the study, together with healthy persons as controls. Fibronectin levels were significantly high (p<0.001) in patients with pulmonary embolism as compared to the healthy population. We conclude that fibronectin is a valuable parameter in the diagnosis of pulmonary embolism.
