There is not any consensus about heart involvement findings related with facioscapulohumeral (Landouzy-Dejerine') muscle dystrophy. To investigate cardiac rhythm and conduction disturbances in facioscapulohumeral muscle dystrophy, 11 patients (6 female, 5 male) between 14 and 56 years old (mean 35.27 13.01 years) were studied with 12 lead scalar electrocardiogram and 24 hour ambulatory Holter monitoring. In study group, mean heart rate was 75.09 10.79 bpm, avenged minimum and maximum heart rates were 58.63 10.65 and 136.27 18.37 bpm, respectively. Maximum and minimum heart rates were 46 and 161 bpm, respectively. Inappropriate sinus tachycardias; sinus bradycardias and non-respiratory sinus arrhythmias were detected in 3 (27 %), 5 (41 %) and 2 patients (18 %), respectively. Sinus pauses were observed in 8 patients (72 %) and longest pause duration was 1.5 seconds. Pauses of two R-R cycle which compatible with sinoatrial second degree heart block, supraventricular escape rhythm, multifocal atrial ectopic rhythm and wandering pacemaker were recorded in 2 (18 %), 6 (54 %), 1 (9 %) and 3 patients (27 %), respectively. Lown atrial/nodal rhythm, paroxismal supraventricular tachycardias, ventricular ectopy (Lown grade 2 and more), first and second degree atrioventricular block were detected in 1 (9 %), 3 (27 %), 2 (18 %), 2 (18 %) and 1 (9 %) cases, respectively. Atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, ventricular tachycardia, third degree atrioventricular black and intraventricular conduction disturbances were not observed in any patients.
