Özet

The population is an extremely active phenomenon and one of the characteristics of the development of cities. Population increases and decreases in certain periods are closely related with political, economical and social circumstances. In addition to this, developments in rural and urban population are also indications of development levels. Industrialization movements beginning after 1950 in Turkey have important roles in population movements in our study area as in all country. Immigration from rural areas to urban areas, nearness to Istanbul, and with its opportunities, Silivri is an area where important changes are seen in terms of population characteristics.
