Özet

In recent decades, lung transplantation has shown significant updates in advanced nonneoplastic lung diseases. In the early 1990s, there were only a few transplant programs available worldwide, however there is at least one transplant program in developed countries. The most critical indication for transplantation is end-stage lung disease. The International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT) has established two general criteria for selecting recipient candidates. First, the risk of mortality within two years due to the current lung disease must be over 50%. Second, the probability of survival for at least 90 days following lung transplantation should be greater than 80%. Lung transplantation can be performed as a single lung, double lung, heart-lung, or living-lobe transplant. With advances in surgical techniques and medical treatments, there has been a reduction in post-transplant complications and improvement in survival rates. An increase in lung transplantation centers and donor availability has played a significant role in the treatment of end-stage lung disease through transplantation.
