Suudi Arabistan’ın ilk COVID-19 olgusu 2 Mart 2020 tarihinde görülmüştür. Ancak Suudi Arabistan’da ilk COVID-19 olgusu görülmeden bir ay önce, “Hepimiz sorumluyuz” ulusal sloganı ile somutlaştırılan çeşitli koruyucu önlemler alınmaya başlanmıştır. Bu sayede hastalığın yayılımı ve ölüm sayıları kontrol altında tutulmuştur. Daha önce ülkede yaşanan MERS-CoV salgını deneyimleri de COVID-19 salgını ile mücadelede kullanılmış ve bu yüzden süreç Avrupa ülkelerine göre daha başarılı yönetilmiştir.
