Giriş Sağlık sosyolojisinin toplum sağlığının geliştirilmesi açısından tıptaki yeri önemlidir. Bu araştırmada tıp fakültesi öğrencilerinin sağlık sosyolojisi derslerine dair görüşlerini tanımlamak amaçlanmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem Bu kesitsel araştırmada literatürden faydalanarak oluşturulan sağlık sosyolojisi ile ilgili bilgi, tutum, davranış anketi tıp fakültesi 2 ve 5. sınıf öğrencilerine uygulanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler frekans ve yüzdeleri ile sunulmuş, bağımsız değişkenlerin etkisi istatistik testleri ile analiz edilmiştir. Sonuçlar (Bulgular) Her beş öğrenciden yalnızca birisi sağlık sosyolojisi kavramını duymuştur (%28,6, n=42). 2. sınıf öğrencilerinin %81,6 (n=71)’sı, 5.sınıf öğrencilerinin %60 (n=36)’ı tıp fakültesi öğrencilerinin sağlık sosyolojisi dersi alması gerektiğini düşünmektedir. Tartışma Tıp fakültesi öğrencileri, sağlık sosyolojisi dersinin genellikle hasta-hekim ilişkisinde yararlı olabileceği görüşündedirler. Sağlık sosyolojisi eğitiminin gerekmediğini düşünen öğrenciler ise sosyal bilimler içerikli derslerin veriliş şekliyle ilgili sorunları vurgulamaktadır. Tıp eğitimi müfredatındaki sosyal bilimler eğitimlerinin sağlık perspektifinden verilmesi öğrencilerin motivasyonunu ve sosyal bilimlerin tıbbi alandaki faydasını arttıracaktır.
Introduction Medical sociology plays a significant role in medicine for impro- ving public health. The aim of this study is to define the opinions of medical faculty students about the importance of medical sociology courses. Materials and Methodology In this cross-sectional study, the knowledge, attitude, and behavior questionnaire about medical sociology, which was created by making use of the literature, was applied to the 2nd and 5th-grade students of the medical faculty. The obtained data were presented with frequency and percentages, and the effects of independent variables were analyzed with statistical tests. Results (Findings) Only one out of every five students have heard of the term of medical sociology (28.6%, n=42). 81.6% (n=71) of the 2nd year students and 60% (n=36) of the 5th year students think that medical school students should take the medical sociology course. Discussion Medical students generally consider the medical sociology course beneficial to the patient-physician relationship. Students who perceive medical sociology education as unnecessary, emphasize the problems related to the way social science courses are given. Providing social sciences education in the medical education curriculum from a healthcare perspective will increase the motivation of students and make better use of social sciences in medicine.
