The necropolis at Dağkızılca, which studied within the part of The Nif Mountain Research and Excavation Project carried out on the Nif (Olympos) Mountain, located east of the Gulf of Izmir, is exposed to heavy destruction because of illegal diggings. Introducing the documentation works for two tumuli from this necropolis as a case study, proposals for protection of similar archaeological monuments located in the natural and cultural landscape is presented. Although the context of the tombs has distrupted, they can be dated to the 4th-3rd centuries B.C., according to the few small finds and their architectural features. Protection of these tumuli would be provided by informing the local people and controlling them with modern methods.
İzmir Körfezi’nin doğusunda bulunan Nif (Olympos) Dağı’nda yürütülen Nif Dağı Araştırma ve Kazı Projesi kapsamında çalışılan Dağkızılca Nekropolisi yoğun kaçak kazılar nedeniyle tahribata maruz kalmaktadır. Bu nekropolisteki iki tümülüsün belgeleme çalışmalarından örnekler verilerek kırsal ve kültürel peyzajda yer alan benzeri arkeolojik anıtların korunması üzerine bir değerlendirme ve bazı öneriler sunulmaktadır. Mezarlar, konteksti bozulmuş olmakla birlikte ele geçen az sayıdaki küçük buluntu ve mimari özellikleriyle MÖ 4.-3. yüzyıl-lara tarihlendirilebilir. Bu tümülüslerin korunması yerel halkın bilgilendirilmesi ve modern yöntemlerle kontrol edilmeleriyle mümkündür.
