This study presents the fabrication of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) using natural dyes extracted from basil, spinach, and blackberry. The photoanode was
prepared by coating ITO glass with TiO₂ nanoparticles via the doctor blade method. The plant materials were ground in a mortar, and the extracts were stored at low
temperature in the dark for 24 hours before being applied to the TiO₂ layer. A saline solution served as the electrolyte, and the counter electrode was made from sootcoated
ITO glass. Three DSSC configurations were assembled by sandwiching the dye-loaded photoanodes with the counter electrodes. I–V measurements indicated
diode-like behavior and confirmed light sensitivity, verifying the photovoltaic activity of the natural dyes. The results demonstrate the promising potential of plantbased
dyes as low-cost, eco-friendly sensitizers for DSSC applications.
