Abstract

The stagnant water conditions for a long time caused biofilm formation on the surfaces. Corrosion

damage was a consequence of microbial activity of different bacterial groups impairing locally the

passivation layer of stainless steel. Microorganisms of the sulfur-, iron-, and manganese-cycles jointly

caused the problem.
