Abstract

On February 6, 2023, two devastating earthquakes with magnitudes larger than 7,5 occurred in T & uuml;rkiye, within the nine hours of each other. Damage was observed on inter-provincial roads, railroads as well as some air and seaports. Passenger and freight transportation was interrupted for a few days. The fault rupture was close to or crossing many roads and railroads, causing displacements. The secondary effects of the earthquakes such as liquefaction and landslides also caused damage. This paper presents the earthquake response of the transportation infrastructures affected by the Kahramanmaras earthquake sequence based on findings from field investigations conducted after the earthquakes.
