Bu makalenin konusunu bir saray kütüphanesinin üniversiteye kadar süregelen ilginç yolculuğu oluşturduğundan, iki kısımda ele alınmıştır. Birinci kısımda, II. Abdülhamid'in hal'edilip, sürgüne gönderilmesinin ardından Yıldız Sarayı'ndaki iki kütüphanenin tasfiye süreci ve bunun sonunda Maarif Nezareti'ne teslim edilmesi ele alınmıştır. Bunlardan birincisi, Yıldız Kütüphanesi diye de bilinen Büyük Kütüphane'dir. Diğeri ise, II. Abdülhamid'in Kütübhane-i Hususisi'dir. İkinci kısımda ise, söz konusu kütüphanelerin Türkiye Cumhuriyeti dönemindeki durumu ele alınmıştır. Buna göre, kütüphaneler Cumhuriyet döneminde Darülfünun'a devredilmiştir. Daha sonra, Darülfünun'dan İstanbul Üniversitesi'ne geçiş sürecinde bu kütüphaneler de üniversiteye intikal etmiştir.
As the theme of this article is the fascinating journey of a palace library that lasted until the university, it has been addressed in two parts. The first part deals with the liquidation process of the two libraries in Yıldız Palace following the dethronement and exile of Abdülhamid II, and their eventual transfer to the Ministry of Education. The first of these is the Grand Library, also known as the Yıldız Library. The other is Abdulhamid the Second's Private Library. The second part examines the status of these libraries during the Republic of Turkey period. Accordingly, the libraries were transferred to Darülfünun during the Republican period. Afterwards, during the transition from Darülfünun to Istanbul University, these libraries were also transferred to the university.
