Abstract: Travel as a medium of self-discovery is one of the central motives in the works of Christian Kracht. He addresses the notion of disorientation on the path of self-discovery. In his novels, the travel motive serves to locate the Self in the world: Kracht’s protagonists search for their own place. In this study, I would like to display that at the end of their odyssey there is nothing to be found – except for the self-destruction, and death.
