This study aims at the determination of the pre-and post-competitive anxiety of the 12-14 years old male basketball players vvhere the high anxiety levels are prevalent. The study was carried out on 27 male players (mean=12.63±0.88) playing in 2 teams in the substructure of a prominent team located in İstanbul. The anxiety levels of the athletes were determined by the use of competitive anxiety inventory for children (CSAI-2C). The scale which had been applied to the participants before the competition revealed that the cognitive and somatic anxiety levels shovved a meaningful increase up to the time of the competition and reached its peak value one hour prior to the competition. İt was also determined that the self-confidence levels of the participants shovved a steady decrease till the time of the competition and reached its minimum value the time of it. The post cognitive and somatic anxiety levels vvere observed to show a meaningful decrease and self-confidence levels shovved a significant increase (p<0.05).
