Purpose: The aim of the study is to examine the approach of information and record experts to the practices during intellectual control, also known as the arrangement and description of electronic records transferred to the archive. Method: The qualitative research method was used in this study, which examines how and in what way these practices are implemented on electronic archive materials by tracing the arrangement and description in the digital age. In this context, experts with experience in record management and archive practices from various organizations in Turkiye were determined as a sample, and fieldwork was conducted. 12 questions were asked to the participants in the interviews, with 18 participants from 15 institutions. Content analysis of the deciphered interview records was performed using the MAXQDA qualitative data analysis program. Findings: During the field study, it was observed that some new arrangement areas of e-records emerged compared to classical information carriers. These are information such as technical and technological features, format structure, resolution, and the software in which it is produced. Participants stated that these new arrangements were used by adding to existing metadata fields. Although there are discussions that traditional archive principles have changed with new-generation digital carriers, it has been stated that these principles will be needed more. Implications: In the research, it was evaluated that e-records have differences in arrangement compared to traditional ones, many data produced in the current period are also used in the archive phase, descriptions are made at the file and record level in applications, and the State Archives Directorate should take a more active role regarding the description rules. It has been concluded that provenance and original order are important tools in maintaining the evidentiary value of archived e-records. These principles will be needed more to preserve the organic bond and establish the hierarchy of the record. Originality: The study is one of the first examples of national-level due diligence on the functioning and requirements of practices in institutions providing e-archive services. It has revealed the approaches of information records experts to traditional archive principles in the face of digital information carriers. It is hoped that this article will contribute to studies on archived e-records.
