Özet

The use of laser technology in urology witnessed a significant surge in the late 1990s. Today, owing to advancements in laser technology, it holds a crucial position in the field of endourology. The lasers employed distinguish themselves through distinct features such as wavelength, laser fiber core diameter, and frequency, each tailored for specific procedures. The most prevalent laser types utilized include Holmium: yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Ho:YAG), thulium: yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Tm:YAG), and thulium fiber laser (TFL). Notably, pulse modulation technology has emerged as a promising development in this context. The primary objective of this chapter is to provide a fundamental guide to the characteristics and application of lasers in endourological procedures.
