Özet

The historical geography surveys conducted in the last thirty years in Cilicia, which lies between the Taurus Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea, known as Cilicia Pedias1 or Cilicia Campestris in the ancient sources, known today as Çukurova,2 have shown that this region needs to examined differently from other Anatolian re-gions in terms of cultural history.3 A transitional region between the Eastern Mediterranean and Mesopotamia and other parts of Anatolia, Cilicia is a geographical area where different cultures met and mixed with local cultures.
