The coronavirus epidemic (Covid - 19), which threatens the health of all people, was declared a
pandemic by the World Health Organization on 11 March 2020.Since then, the ways of doing business
of organizations all over the world and in our country have been started to change.This process force
companies for adapting to remote working. Under all these conditions, managing employees correctly
also has gained critical importance. How company employees’ performance and health are affected by
remote work during the covid period are emphasized in many studies.On the other hand there are few
studies on how managers take on the role of remote working. Whereas the role of managers in
organizations has been very critical in this process. Because deciding roadmap on how the company
will manage this crisis, how motivate employees and other process such as ensuring their continuity
and controlling the outputs depends on managers. In this context, this study is examined of how the
responsibilities of managers and working conditions have changed in the process that started with the
COVID-19 pandemic. The participants of the research are managers who work in different sectors in
Turkey and have experienced remote working.In-depth interview is chosen as a method and as a result
of the analysis of the the in-depth interviews, "Acceleration of digitalization", " Change of operational
costs and operations”, “Disruptions caused by remote working” and “New normal in organizations”
themes are emerged. In the light of these themes information has been obtained about how the
management activities have changed during the remote working and how the new working normal will
be. New management practices, new organizational forms and new working conditions which are
adopted by managers is determined and with this information this study is aimed to be a resource for
companies and managers by theoretical and practical aspects.
