bilgisayar kontrollü olup mekanik, elektrik ve elektronik donanımdan oluşan oldukça kompleks bir yapıya sahiptir. Bu makineler yüksek maliyetlerle ithal edilmekte, bu nedenle çalışır durumda olmalarını sağlamak ve böylece arızalanmaları halinde ortaya çıkabilecek doğrudan ve dolaylı ek maliyetleri asgariye indirmek için mümkün olan her türlü çabanın gösterilmesi önem arz etmektedir. İnternet üzerinden, teknik bazı sorunların, özellikle online olarak, firma (ya da onun yetkili temsilcisi) tarafından çözülmesi mümkün olmaktadır. Ancak, bazı basit problemleri (üretici firmanın izin verdiği kadarıyla) hemen yerinde giderebilmek için matbaa teknisyenlerinin elektrik sistemlerinin işletme ve bakımı konusunda temel bilgi ve beceriye sahip olmaları gerekmektedir. Bu ihtiyaca binaen, bu çalışmada, Basın ve Yayın Teknolojileri Programları için, haftada iki saat Teorik bir saat Uygulama (Laboratuvar) olmak üzere bir yarıyıl süre ile “Elektriğin Temelleri” dersi ve bu derse ait müfredat konuları önerilmektedir.
Education in Printing and Publishing Technologies is provided in Turkey by a 4-year-college and 2-year vocational programmes at 16 state and 6 foundation universities. The printing machine is the backbone (key element) of the Printing and Publishing Systems. It is mainly a computer-controlled machine and has quite a complex structure consisting of various mechanical, electrical and electronic hardware. It is imported at high costs and hence every possible effort is to be exercised to keep it operational and thus to minimize any additional direct and indirect costs which may arise from its breakdown. It is possible, via the internet, (especially as online) to obtain the technical support of the manufacturer (or its authorized representative) for some technical problems. However, there is a need for a printing technician to have background knowledge and skills on the operation and maintenance of the electrical systems of printing machines for not only carrying out the directions of the manufacturer, but also handling some elementary problems right on the spot (as far as permitted by the manufacturer).
Based on this need, a course entitled “Fundamentals of Electricity” and its content is proposed in this study for the Printing and Publishing Technologies Programmes, 2 hours Theoretical and 1 hour Laboratory (3 hours) a week for one semester.
