Bestecinin etrafını çevreleyen toplumdan etkilenmeden yaşaması mümkün değildir. Barok dönemin en büyük bestecilerinden Johann Sebastian Bach da kendinden önceki kuşaklardan etkilenmiş ve sonrakileri etkilemiştir. Theodor Adorno “başarılı müzik yenilikçi ve ilericidir” demiştir.2 Başarılı müzik yapabilmek için kişinin “yeni”yi tarihsel süreç içinde yeniden inşa etmelidir.
Bu makalede Theodor Adorno’nun sanat ve topluma bakış açısı incelenmiştir. Bir müzisyen olarak Adorno’nun sanat anlayışı “negatif diyalektik” anlayışı ile ilişkilendirilimiştir. Diyalektik kavramının tarihsel yapısı da bu makalede ayrıca incelenmiştir. Adorno’nun sanat algılayışı J. S. Bach’ın “Das Wohltemperierte Clavier” (İyi Düzenlenmiş Klavye) eserine atıfta bulunularak çalışılmıştır. Bu algılayışa göre maddesel içerik ya da madde, müzik sanatın bir formu olduğu için, gelişimsel bir içerikle müzik malzemesine dönüştürülür.
Nesne (sanat eseri) ve özne (besteci) birbirlerinden etkilenen terimlerdir. Sonuç olarak Bach müzikal maddenin ihtiyaçlarını gördüğü ve onları daha ileriye götürebildiği için modern bir besteci olarak kabul edilebilir.

It is not possible to live without being effected by the community that surrounds a composer. One of the great musicians of the Baroque era, Johann Sebastian Bach was also influenced by the predecessors and he affected the ones after him. Theodor Adorno says “successful music should be innovative and progressive.”2 In order to make successful music, one should make the “new” within its historical process.
In this research article Theodor Adorno’s art and society perspective is examined intensely. As a musician, Adorno’s idea of art will be correlated with the idea of “negative dialectics”. The concept of dialectics with a historical structure is also mentioned in this article. Adorno’s perception of art is studied with reference to J. S. Bach’s “Das Wohltemperierte Clavier” (Well-Tempered Clavier). According to this perception material content or “substance”, since music is a form of art, musical material has been transformed into a more progressive concept.
The object (work of art) and the subject (composer) are terms and they are influenced by each other. As a result, Bach can be accepted as a modern composer, because he had seen the demands of the musical substance and had taken them further.
