Özet

So-young Yang. 2013. The Analysis of the Turkish Learner’s Errors of Honorific Expressions in Korean Writing. Journal of Korean Language Education 24-2: 205-231. Both Turkish and Korean are known to be in the Ural Altay group. This study has been made to understand the errors of Turkish learners’ honorific Expressions in Korean writing. For this study, the predictions of the learners’ errors -according to the Contrastive Analysis’ perspective- were made. After that, the causes of the errors were classified into intralingual transfer, interlingual transfer, and students’ factors. Then the result of the analysis was confirmed by the predictions of the Contrastive Analysis. Finally, an effective teaching and learning method was suggested. The results showed that errors were made in the following sequence: the forms of address, verbal endings, particles, and vocabulary. In the order of frequency that caused the errors were: intralingual transfer, interlingual transfer, and students’ factor. The prediction, made by Contrastive Analysis between the Korean and Turkish, was confirmed with high validity in the Turkish learners’ writing. Consequently, the Contrastive Analysis approach is highly recommended for Turkish learners to learn the Korean Honorific Expressions.(Turkey Korea Cultural Exchange Association)
