Abstract

Librarianship is a professional profession in which female workers are quantitatively more than male workers. However, both librarianship profession and female librarians who carry out this profession have a negative image in popular culture. Furthermore, librarianship as a profession is not perceived as a professional profession such as the medical profession and the profession of law. In other words, professions such as librarianship and nursing are perceived as a semi-professional profession because female workers are quantitatively more than male workers in those professions. In this case, the negative perception against librarianship profession and female librarians is fairly equivalent to the negative perception against women in popular culture.
