Abstract

The games which are played by people from various parts of the world via the Internet, shortly named as MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role playing game) can be explained as massively participated online role playing games. Although they appeal to different groups of age in terms of its popularity and variety, especially the group between the ages of 12-18 so called adolescents are highly affected by these type of games and it is needed to reveal the ways they are affected. Studies have showed that media contents has many effects on society caused by having risky elements. The internet, one of the new media tools, have some negative effects which can be called as "online risks". As a result of its fast, new and attractive way of expression together with rich designs, these risks have been occuring. To reveal these effects and examine addiction impact of massively online role playing games on adolescents will constitute the basis of this study.
