Abstract

High quality color printing is very sensitive to base paper, and therefore requires papers with better color quality. In order to reach requested paper color quality, properties of fibrous raw material must be determined carefully. There are tree main factors which play role over sensation of paper color; light source, paper structure and observer. This paper evaluates color differences between handsheets prepared from kraft pulps according to two most used sheet formation methods. Pulps samples were obtained from every stage CEHDED bleaching stages. Color differences of samples were determined for four illumination conditions. Tungsten lamp illuminated color difference value changes during the bleaching stages were found to have a different trend from other illuminations. Physical treatment of pulp (beating) cause changes in paper color for every bleaching stage especially in bleached pulps.
