This study was initiated with the goal of developing a co-curricular program for the Korean Language and Literature Department at universities in Turkey to assist graduates in securing employment and adapting to workplace environments, as well as to cultivate skilled individuals who meet the demands of Korean companies. To achieve this, a survey was conducted among graduates of the Korean Language and Literature Department at Istanbul University who have experience working in Korean companies or are currently employed in such companies, as well as among Korean companies located in Istanbul and surrounding regions.
The results of the surveys, conducted separately for "graduates of the Korean Language and Literature Department" and "Korean companies," indicated that, despite minor differences, both groups emphasized the need for a curriculum that enhances "job performance" and fosters a better "understanding of corporate culture." In response to these findings, co-curricular programs aimed at improving "job performance" and enhancing "understanding of corporate culture" were designed.
The proposed co-curricular programs will serve as a stepping stone toward cultivating talented individuals. These initiatives are expected to benefit not only Korean companies based in Turkey but also contribute to the advancement of the Korean Language and Literature Department and its graduates at Turkish universities. In this sense, the value of this study lies in its potential to bridge the gap between academic training and industry requirements, thereby fostering a more seamless integration of graduates into the workforce.
