Abstract

The Mengen Basin is located in the west of the Black Sea Region and the province Bolu. It covers an area of 849.9 km2. The basin which formed behind the coastal mountains of the Black Sea Region has a dynamic but slow-moving nature. The basin which formed as a result of tectonic activities lies in the east-west direction. It is 20 km north off the Istanbul-Ankara highway. The North Anatolia Fault (NAF) passes through the basin. As is known, the Black Sea Region has always attracted people's attention but not been able to take its rightful place in the tourism sector. Tourism is a fast-developing sector in the world and Turkey has a huge tourism potential. It would be wise and appropriate to give prominence to its natural characteristics.
