Özet

Dictionaries are of great importance in acquiring a second language. That is why teachers and learners together should pay attention to learning to use dictionaries, both paper and electronic, Because of its importance in language acquisition in general and vocabulary in particular.

And language dictionaries have become available to learners, especially electronic ones, which are the most widely used and easiest to use, as they are available on smart phones, handheld devices, and laptop computers.

It also provides several advantages for the learner, as he can listen to the correct pronunciation of the word. He can also know the multiple contexts, opposites and synonyms. It also contributes to the development of his linguistic competence, And enable him to recognize the slight differences in the word and its correct formation, The lexicon is closely linked to teaching vocabulary; Because it was composed for this purpose, it deals with the word, its precise semantic meaning, its synonym and opposite, its derivation and its plural. In order to identify the importance of the dictionary in teaching vocabulary to learners of Arabic from non-native speakers, the research will answer the following questions:

-        What is the importance of the dictionary in teaching vocabulary?

-        What are the effective methods in teaching vocabulary?

-        What types of vocabulary does the student learn?

-        What is the role of vocabulary in language learning?

In conclusion, the research will include a set of findings and recommendations reached by the researcher.
