Özet

The place of women in social life and their participation rates in working existence are the fields on which intensive studies are carried out. Unfortunately, it is not possible to talk about gender equality in occupational groups and career levels deemed appropriate for women. When it comes to the source of this problem, which cannot be fully overcome, one encounters the national missions imposed on women by nationalism, the official ideology of the period, during the nation-building period. The woman image of the nationalist ideology, together with the emphasis on the concept of motherhood and family, almost equated femininity with motherhood and defined women within the boundaries of the family. The fact that we still feel the effects of the image of woman, whose foundation was laid in the nation-building period, increases the interest in the perception of gender in that period and constitutes the starting point of this article.
In the article, while examining the gender perception of the nation-building period, the novels of the term were used. Novels are important literary works that reflect the political, historical, economic, and socio-cultural structure of the period, the psychology of individuals, and in short, the spirit of the term. They exemplify the impact of ideologies and political decisions on the dynamics of social life.
