Abstract

Ageing of the world population is one of the most important demographic facts that came to the foreground in the 21st century, as the fertility and mortality are both decreasing. Improved and more accessible healthcare, maternal welfare and childcare programs, vaccination programs, better education and better life standards helped people live longer. Nearly in all countries, more people grow old than ever before and elderly form a greater percentage of the population as the years passed. Correspondingly, care for the elderly has to be expanded to cover the increasing needs.
