The Future of Banking-Innovations and Challenges, Macek,A.,Murg, Editör, IntechOpen, London, ss.1-20, 2025
The chapter gives an overview of the current state of the Turkish fintech sector and conducts case studies between traditional banks and fintech companies in Türkiye. The analysis shows that Türkiye has significant potential for fintech sector development and attracting foreign investors, attributed to its tech-savvy young population, implementation of key regulations, and establishment of the Istanbul Financial Center. The second part of the chapter provides a detailed analysis of how fintech firms threaten traditional banks and how these banks are strategically responding. It also explains both parties’ collaboration models and motivations within the context of an innovative management strategy. After conducting detailed exploratory case studies across various global regions, we applied the same research methods to the specific cases in Türkiye for an in-depth analysis. Collaborations between Turkish banks and fintech companies primarily focus on the payment segment, aligning with the global fintech landscape. Traditional banks in Türkiye continue to hold significant positions in the financial sector. However, fintech companies are expanding and are expected to become potential competitors with the emergence of digital banks and peer-to-peer lending platforms.
