Abstract

Recovered paper is an important raw material in our country, because union cost of primary pulp production is expensive . Hence recycled paper production is higher in terms of volume and utilisation in the packaging industry. According to EC Directive EC/94/62 that gives essential reguirements to reduce the environmental impact of use of paper from recycled pulp in the packaging industry. These of one is present heavy metals such as concentration level of lead, cadmium, mercury and hexavalent chromium in the packaging. In this study, It was determined the concentration level of heavy metals in several papers commonly used to produce corrugated board and packaging industry in Turkey. Also, it is discussed the appropriateness of using the packaging sector.
