Abstract
The present paper explores the representation of the iconemi of the 80’s Italy through a perception deriving from the typical modalities of slow tourism. Two travel books are used in order to carry it out: Verso la Foce (1989) by Gianni Celati and Un viaggio in Italia (1983) by Guido Ceronetti. The landscape, in its evolving continuum, is drafted as an enigmatic zone which reflects the new Italy of Celati or the vanished Italy of Ceronetti. With references to the semantic fields of pathology, war and travelers-writers sinking, there is an insistence on the general neglect, giving to the odeporic prose the function of critical instrument, although with different formal and stylistic solutions.
