Abstract
Social media is an internet based communication tool that has no limites in space and time. It is a social, beyond social virtual sharing and debating environment where people share their stories and experiences by videos, visuals and other technological elements. Through social media people get to have the chance to collectively declare ideas on their organisations, products, present their work, establish new friendship relations, develop communities-groups. However such activities being so frequent and intense in social media causes the real life and virtual life to engage and it happens to complicate the perception of individuals to differentiate the thin line between real life and virtual life. The confusion in the perception of individuals also be reflected on their actions in the consequence of real meanings of concepts like space and time being carried to a different perception and mechanism in virtual space. Individuals fore fronting their user id’s have the idea that by being visible in virtual space it would fulfil their social obligations by reacting to the issues they find justifying or problematical in real life.
Slacktisim which we often encounter in social sciences especially in social media studies, physically not being involved in actions and protestations, but from the spot writing, commenting, liking, Retweeting, is defined in social media channels mostly as being supportive or opposing.
Our study seeks to depict the usage of social media and slacktist movements.
