Özet

The discovery of faint stars in the solar neighborhood led to dramatic changes in Galactic structure with the beginning of the Gaia era. Detailed studies of white dwarfs -one of the faint objects- with Gaia data shows that the Solar neighborhood can also be investigated with these objects. In this study, the distance of the Sun from the Galactic plane was calculated using white dwarfs selected from the solar vicinity. For this purpose, single white dwarfs in the thin disk were determined by applying photometric and astrometric constraints to Gaia DR3. The dust map of our Galaxy was used for the absorption values required to calculate the absolute magnitude of the white dwarf stars. 145,104 numbers of white dwarfs were selected from the color-magnitude diagram. The distances of the white dwarfs from the Galactic plane were shown on a histogram and the distance of the Sun from the Galactic plane was determined as Z_sun = 3.03 ∓ 0.31 pc by fitting the Gaussian curve depending on its symmetrical structure. In addition, similar analysis were repeated by dividing the white dwarfs into absolute magnitude intervals and it was determined that the distances were in the range of 4.45 < Z_sun < 0.70 pc. The results are quite small compared to the distances calculated from different objects in the literature.
