In this study 19 patients (7 male, 12 female) with myotonic muscular dystrophy were assessed with scalar 12 lead ECG recordings and 24 hour rhythm and conduction disturbance in these patients. Sinus bradycardia, non phasic sinus arrhythmia, sinus pause and sinus tachycardia were detected in 47%, 73%, 84% and 52% of cases respectively. Minimum and maximum heart rate were 35 and 169 bpm, respectively. Longest pause was sinus pause of 2 seconds and 12 percent of them probably due to 2nd degree sinoatrial block. First degree atrioventricular block, incomplete and complete RBBB and left anterior hemiblock were detected in 21%, 26%, 26% and 36% of patients, respectively. Mean duration of segment and QRS wave were 0.171 0.032 and 0.114 0.03 seconds, respectively. Low atrial/nodal rhythm, wandering pacemaker and supraventricular escape rhythm were recorded in 5%, 15% and 52% of patients, respectively. Second or third degree atrioventricular block, atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia or ventricular tachycardia were not detected.
