Climate for Innovation in Organizations: A Qualitative Research

Abstract
The aim of this paper is to investigate the concepts related with innovation climate in organizations. Organizations in order to be innovative and gain competitive advantage should be able to implement new ideas and organized in such a way that facilitates processes and procedures, encourage employees and create an open communication to share ideas. Innovation climate is associated with organizational outcomes including enhanced implementation of ideas, superior organizational innovation, and higher employee satisfaction. Innovation climate has been identified as a core prerequisite for innovation performance in the literature. The method that we used in this research is content analysis conducted in order to identify the possible trends, and changes in the specific concepts discussed. For that purpose, we have reviewed the articles published in international journals by searching the electronic databases. We have restricted the search with the article title contains “innovation climate” and “organization” concepts in the period of 2015-2018. The search results showed fourty articles related with our search criteria. After evaluating the we determined 8 major categories and classified the articles into these categories. Our results show that the concept of innovation climate in organizations has mainly focused on innovative work behavior and creativity, environmental change and sustainability, and leadership. The following categories include; organizational performance, open innovation, and entrepreneurship.
