Objective: It is possible to continue the study on the relationship between self-diabetes management and nutritional status in order to recognize Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). Material and Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted at Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Diabetes Polyclinic with the participation of 314 patients between the ages of 18-65 who were diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. The information formula including the general characteristics of the departments and the Type 2 Diabetes Self-Management Scale (DSMS) and the Adult Nutrition Knowledge Level Scale (NKLS) are used with face-to-face interviews and survey methods. Results: 52.5% of the 314 people with T2DM are female and their ages are 58.11 +/- 7.35; body mass index is 29.69 +/- 5.70 kg/m(2). The average diabetes duration of the rates is 15.99 +/- 8.79 years. Gender, diabetes diseases, diabetes-related integrity, diabetes nutrition education conditions, diets applied, interval skipping situations and physical activity frequencies, change situations and size sub-dimensions are changing (p<0.05). Conclusion: Adopting a healthy lifestyle and education on diabetes and nutrition result in better self-management. Lifestyle interventions are seen as an important requirement for effective disease management in diabetic individuals.
