Biography

Bilgen Komut Talay received her BA degree in political science and international relations from İstanbul University in 2003 and her MA degree in Modern Turkish History from Boğaziçi University in 2006. Her MA thesis entitled A Reading Practice as the Consumption of Leisure Time: Hayat Magazine, 1980-1986 focuses on role played by the mainstream media during the cultural transformation that took place in Turkey in the early 1980s. She studied and worked as a graduate teaching assistant at the Department of Anthropology, University of Minnesota between the years 2007-2013. From 2012 onwards, she has been studying and working as graduate teaching assistant at the Department of Anthropology, İstanbul University.
