Giray had graduated from Istanbul University, Law Faculty in 1998 before making post graduate studies on European Union Law at Marmara University European Union Institute in 2000. He was granted Ph.D degree in Civil Law section from Istanbul University Social Sciences Institute in 2007. He worked as a research assistant during 1999-2007 at Istanbul Law Faculty in Private International Law Department. Giray was appointed as an assistant professor in 2008 and appointed as an associate professor due to his thesis named "Compensation Arising From Expropriation in International Investment Arbitration and The Methods Used in the Calculation of Compensation" in 2013. He was appointed as an full time professor in the same department in 2020 due to his projects and thesis named "Limitation Periods in International Private and Procedural Law"
He gives courses on Private International Law, International Civil Procedural Law for under graduates and International Investment Arbitration Law, Disability Rights, International Family and Child Law for postgraduate students at Istanbul University Law Faculty and Social Sciences Institute.
