Biography
Kayhan Özaykal is Assistant Professor in the department for the philosophy of religion at Istanbul University. He completed a bachelors degree in 2007 at SOAS, University of London, in social anthropology and religious studies and a maters degree in 2009 at Birkbeck, University of London, in philosophy. From 2010-2017 he studied traditional Islamic sciences at the Istanbul Foundation for Education and Research (İSAR). During that period he also obtained his PhD from Sakarya University with a dissertation on al-Maturidi’s metaethical thought titled "Theological-Ethics and Epistemology: The Euthyphro Dilemma and the Metaethics of al-Maturidi". His main interests lie at the crossroads between the Islamic intellectual tradition and analytic philosophy. Among his principle research areas are theistic ethics, and the connections between epistemology and metaphysics
