Assoc. Prof. MUSTAFA MURAT ÖZBALAK

Assoc. Prof. Murat Özbalak was born in Istanbul in 1984. He completed his primary education at F.M.V. Private Işık Primary School, and his secondary and high school education at Galatasaray High School. He graduated from the English Medicine Program of Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 2009.

He completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 2015. He then began his compulsory public service at Batman Kozluk State Hospital in November 2015 and worked at Istanbul Bahçelievler State Hospital between April 2017 and June 2018.

Between June 2018 and September 2021, he completed his subspecialty training in Hematology at Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Division of Hematology. Following his hematology training, he served as part of his compulsory public service at the Hematology Department of Ağrı Training and Research Hospital between October 2021 and September 2022. He then worked at the Hematology Clinic of Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital between October 2022 and February 2024.

In June 2023, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor of Hematology. In the same year, he successfully completed the Lymphoma Masterclass of the Turkish Society of Hematology. He completed his PhD training at the Department of Immunology, Aziz Sancar Institute of Experimental Medicine, in 2026 with a successful thesis focusing on tumor immunology in patients with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.

Since February 2024, he has been serving as a faculty member at Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Division of Hematology. His clinical and academic work focuses on lymphoproliferative diseases, Hodgkin lymphoma, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and tumor immunology.

He speaks English and French fluently. Assoc. Prof. Özbalak is married and is a congress member of Galatasaray Sports Club.
