Assoc. Prof. Özgü YOLCU

Biography

She was born in 1976 in Artvin. She graduated from İstanbul University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Public Relations and Advertisement in 1997. She worked for TRT, Sabah Newspaper, NTV and Akşam Newspaper between 1997 and 2004 as Director Assistant, News Reporter, Education Editor and Columnist. She got master’s degree in İstanbul University, Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Public Relations and Advertisement in 2005 and PhD in same institute, Department of Journalism in 2008. She has been to at Vienna University to do a part of her doctorate study within the scope of EU Erasmus changing student, in the first term of 2007-2008 academic year. The Title of the Doctorate Thesis is  “Internet Broadcasting in the Context of Globalisation and Turkish Broadcasting of Global Media Companies on the Web. She was publishing coordinator of İstanbul University Science Culture and Art Magazine between 2009-2011. She became Associate Professor Doctor in İstanbul University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Radio-TV and Film in 2016. Her areas of research interest include new media, internet and cinema. She has a book called “Social Media and Cinema”.

She is the writer of documentary film called “Istanbul University since 1453” supported by Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency (2010). She is also one of the coordinator of a short film called “A Long and Narrow Road”(2015) and the director of short documentary film called “Shelter” (with E.Yolcu) (2016) .
