Biography
Fatma Önay KOÇOĞLU works as a full-time faculty member at Istanbul University (IU), Faculty of Computer and Information Technologies, Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering.
Following her education at Fatih Pertevniyal Anatolian High School, Koçoğlu received her bachelor's degree from IU Faculty of Science-Department of Mathematics, her second bachelor's degree from Sakarya University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Industrial Engineering, and her master's degree from IU Institute of Graduate Studies in Sciences (FBE) - Department of Informatics with her thesis titled "Comparison of Data Discretization Methods in Data Mining and An Application". She completed part of her master's thesis at the Université de Technologie de Compiégne - Computer Engineering Department (France).
Koçoğlu received PhD degree from IU FBE Informatics Department in 2017 with her thesis titled "Analytical Approaches in Solving the Customer Churn Analysis Problem" and a second PhD degree from Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa with her thesis titled "Positioning Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Under Stochastic Altitude, Demand and Location Constraints".
She worked as a Research Assistant at the Department of Informatics at Istanbul University (IU) between 2010 and 2021. She continued her studies as a visiting researcher at LIP6 - Laboratoire d'Informatique Sorbonne Université (France) in the 2021-2022 academic year, and this research process was supported within the scope of the French Embassy Research Scholarship Program and TÜBİTAK International Research Fellowship Programme. After her research abroad, she worked as Deputy Dean at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University - Faculty of Engineering and as a faculty member at the Software Engineering Department.
She is interested in artificial intelligence, UAV-supported mobile networks, machine learning, data mining, mathematical modeling, optimization, and learning analytics and continues her academic studies on these subjects.
