Biography
Muzaffer Arıkan earned his BSc in Molecular Biology & Genetics at Istanbul Technical University, MSc in Genetics at the Aziz Sancar Institute for Experimental Medicine, and PhD in Molecular Biology & Genetics at Istanbul University. Following his PhD, he joined SABITA as a postdoctoral researcher and later continued as an assistant professor, focusing on neurodegenerative diseases and the human microbiome. During his PhD and postdoctoral research, he conducted microbiome, metagenomics, and multi-omic studies as a visiting scientist at EMBL‑EBI (UK) and BAM (Germany). He is currently an assistant professor in the Division of Biotechnology, Department of Biology at Istanbul University, where his research focuses on meta-omic analyses of microbial communities.
