AQUAPOLL researchers contributed to the book Plastisphere: The Ecosystem of Plastics (CRC Press), which has been published. In Chapter 9, the impacts of the “plastisphere” (microbial communities forming on plaes) on food safety in aquatic food production systems and processed seafood are discussed within the framework of biofilm dynamics, potential pathogen vectoring, and risk-mitigation approaches.
